Volkswagen has issued a recall for their 2009-2010 Routan minivan. The recall affects just over 20,000 vehicles. The recall stems from a problem with the ignition switch. According to one report, if the ignition switch is jarred, the key can be knocked out of the “run” position which would turn off the engine, airbags, power steering and power brakes. Fortunately, the problem is pretty easy to fix. Owners who bring in their Routans will receive a new key fob and their ignition switch will be replaced free of charge. In the meantime, owners should not have anything else on their key rings, not even the fob.
